B'nai David Cemetery on Detroit's east side dates back to 1898. Originally associated with Beth David Synagogue which changed names to B'nai David sometime in the late 1930's or early '40's. The synagogue no longer exists but the cemetery does and it's in bad shape. B'nai David was a large congregation and there are many people still living in the Metro area that were members, the children of members, or in someway affiliated with the congregation. Although there are questions about what happened to the perpetual care fund, the fact is that there is not any congregational money left. If this cemetery is going to be repaired and cared for, we need to start from scratch. The souls interred at B'nai David Cemetery deserve to be cared regardless of the circumstances. Let's join together, clean and repair the cemetery, and make solid plans to maintain it in perpetuity. Wether you have a family member interred at the cemetery or are a community member interested in this important project, we need your help.
